My 1969 Z/28-RS

Here is what I started with. This is what it looked like when it last ran in 1979. I started poking around with the restoration in 1991 but didn't really get going until late '95. |

It's hard to tell from this picture, but the rear end is seriously crunched. |

This is June 19, 1996. A long way to go yet. I've already refinished the wheels, done most of the bodywork, and put a gallon of Hugger Orange on it. |

The passenger side was okay, but the driver's side had some rust in the rear floor pan area as well as the toe panel. I used a new rear floorpan from Rick's First Generation, as well as a new toe panel. The small rust holes in the driveshaft tunnel were patched with metal trimmed from the floorpans. |

All the panels welded in, sealed, and primered. |

The rear of this car got seriously whacked back in '75. I've installed new rear quarters, rear panel, and trunk floor. |

The firewall area cleaned up and painted. |

Starting to detail the subframe. |

All new front end parts - upper and lower ball joints, tie rods, tie rod ends, upper and lower control arm bushings, idler arm, wheel bearings, caliper seals, brake pads, sway bar bushings, subframe bushings. |

Laying out the stripes. |

2 quarts of Dover White, and one gallon of clear. |

Then the whole car was sanded with 2000 grit watersand and buffed. You can see the difference between the fender and the door. |
