The W0X0F
The vessel W0X0F is a stately
sailboat of 22 feet overall, manufactured by Columbia Yachts sometime in the mid sixties.
It is under the command of Captain Gary Cothern, AKA Captain Crunch, who is somewhat less
stately and manufactured by Mr. and Mrs. Cothern sometime well before that.
The W0X0F (wox-off) get's its
unusual name from an ancient weather term, defined as follows:
W - indefinite
0 - ceiling zero
X - sky obscured
0 - visibility zero
F - fog
In other words, you can't see
shit. The new "improved" international terminology, which Captain Cothern
adamantly refuses to use, would change the vessel's name to 0SM FG V V 00, pronounced
"ooh-sim-fig-voo."
0 - visibility zero
SM - statute miles
FG - fog
VV - vertical visibility
00 - zero
In other words, you can't see
shit in any language, and the term is now clear as mud.
