**Los Angeles cars had a code on the first line, such as J316. It is believed to be an
internal plant code for dating of production. Example: J316 would have been the 316th car
built during the "J" period, which looks to be approximately the third week in
April. It is believed that around 300 cars were produced during each letter designation.
Examples: 04A = G238 and 04B = H433. |
